Industrial Facilities Maintenance Tips

Permits

EPA and NYSDEC may require permits for certain activities regarding stormwater discharge.

Equipment

Prevent pollution from maintenance by using drip pans and absorbent sand for spills.

Chemical Storage

Keep chemicals in tightly sealed containers in covered areas.

Waste Disposal

Prevent runoff from your dumpster by keeping the lid closed and repairing leaks.

Irrigation

Use timed sprinklers to prevent overwatering of your lawn.

Landscaping

Fertilizer, leaves and grass clippings can end up in our waterways. When using fertilizers, use sparingly, test soil pH and follow directions.

Spills

Have a plan ready in case of a chemical spill. Keep a spill kit on hand with absorbent materials.

Snow & Ice Removal

Choose nontoxic deicing products and apply sparingly. Never dump snow directly into waterways.
